This
Craftsman house, built on “Doctor’s Hill” by Captain and Mrs. William O.
White, had suffered extensive exterior changes before it was restored in the
late 1990s. At that time, Permastone siding was removed that was probably
installed about sixty years ago, and the original wood siding and shingled
gables were repaired. The side gable roof and shed dormer with balcony are
typical of Bungalow period Craftsman design, as are the one-story full front
porch with square wood columns and sawn wood balustrade. Thanks to the efforts
of the current and previous owners, this house is now exemplary of a turn of the
century Craftsman design.
