The
house at 128 West Glenwood was built as an American Four Square. This term
refers to the floor plan for the first, and often the second floor, where four
large square rooms connected to form the functional spaces for the home.
The first room reached through the front entry was usually an entry or reception
hall, and contained the formal stairs that accessed the second story.
Historically, the other three rooms would have been a front parlor, dining room
and kitchen, although those functions may have changed over time.
