This warehouse building is the home of Roberta & Sonny Jones. Permission to treat the building as a residence was obtained from the City of Knoxville’s Metropolitan
Planning Commission, through a "Use On Review" approval. The building, built in 1975, is the former home of Star Vending, Inc. which relocated to Baxter and Wray. Mr. & Mrs. Jones, with their son, Colin, and several cats, have occupied the building since January
28, 2006. The Joneses moved to Knoxville from Alexandria, VA, wanting more room to pursue their hobbies of painting & DIY projects (Sonny), quilting and sewing (Roberta), and cooking (all). To that end, this 4,000 sq. ft. commercial property, modified by Ken Bronson Construction, was converted from the empty concrete box they purchased in May 2005, to a comfortable, spacious home. Construction of interior rooms and the installation of large windows, front and rear, have enhanced the livability of the building. They have achieved their goal of space for hobbies, although the year
has been spent more on painting, unpacking, and arranging their home, than the pursuit of those hobbies. The Joneses have lived in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and in or near Detroit, Indianapolis, and Alexandria, and their furnishings reflect this. The home was featured in the July 19, "North Knox" section of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
