This
1888 Folk Victorian is known as the Thomas Fitzgerald House. This two-story home has for many years been covered
with artificial siding, and divided into nine apartments
(move cursor over picture to see a 2001
picture). With its front porch enclosed, and
the exterior trim obscured, it was hard to believe that significant original architecture still existed. In the last year, the house has
been restored. Its exterior front porch, double leaf front doors, window hoods, porch columns and other detail now form a consistency
with the elaborate interior details that somehow survived the apartment conversion and years of
benign neglect. Notice the graceful staircase, paneled doors, and wood floors, all enhanced with a new kitchen and
baths and a rear addition that adds needed space without interfering with the original design of the building.
