405 W. Glenwood

One of Old North Knoxville's most prominent houses, this 1910 two story Queen Anne house, built in the part of the neighborhood once referred to as "doctors' row," is being restored by its current owners to its prominence. Queen Anne details include the roof shape of a central hip with lower cross gables, and the fisscale patterned wood shingles in the front gable. The wrap around front and side porch and interior offset brick chimney are typical of Queen Anne houses, and the irregular floor plan also speaks to the architectural detailing of the last century. Neoclassical elements include the leaded glass transom and sidelights at the front entry, and many of the interior details and trim elements.
