Known as Pinecrest, this
1899 Neoclassical house with Queen
Anne and Shingle influences was designed by noteworthy Knoxville architect
George F. Barber. Windows with stained glass upper sashes, roof finials,
the arcaded shingled balustrade on the front porch and the arched, leaded stained glass window set in the front
chimney all point of Barber's unique skill as a designer. Other distinctive exterior design features include a
projecting rounded two story bay, an applied zinc garland at the eaves, and the marble chip panel at the first story windows. A rounded sun room on the
south elevation and the canted bay on the front elevation add to the house's design. Interior
details, painstakingly restored by the current owners,
further knowledge of Barber's distinctive architecture.
