701 East Scott

Although distinctly Queen Anne Victorian, its turned posts, gingerbread trim, window style and even front door hardware show a strong Eastlake influence. The house also features a fourteen foot bay window, widow's walk and roof hatch. Back-lighted solid stained glass windows adorn the parlor and attic and provide a dramatic view from the street in the evenings. The massive beveled glass front doorway and entrance walk of this 1800 square foot corner lot home face the intersection diagonally. Inside there are floor to ceiling pocket doors and four original combination gas and electric chandeliers. Walls, floors and woodwork have been refurbished. This house received a Knoxville Heritage award in 1988.
