1401 Grainger Avenue

Built in 1901, the exterior of the house gives the impression of the American four-square architectural style. Exterior architectural features include the gabled front dormer with partial cornice returns and wood louvered attic vents; oversized asphalt shingles cover the roof. The house has a raised basement in rear and full front porch with wood posts on brick piers. The interior features arts and crafts detailing, expansive interior spaces, unique doors and woodwork, a fine example of inlaid oak paneling on the staircase, exposed oak and pine floors, and original lighting fixtures which complement the architectural design of the house.
