The Merland Home at 241 E. Baxter (above), is just one of the homes featured this year. The home tour brings in money for neighborhood projects and funds for donating to nonprofit organizations like Knox Heritage. Additionally, the tour showcases our unique neighborhood to potential new neighbors! Below is the Wright House at  221 E. Oklahoma Avenue. Click on the images to see large views.

Calling All Volunteers

ONK residents, we need you to volunteer! Join in the holiday fun of this event. One of the primary volunteer tasks is helping homeowners host and show their homes. Homeowners need several people stationed throughout most rooms of the house. Volunteers greet tour goers, guide people through the house, and offer tidbits of history and/or info on its restoration (don’t worry, homeowners will brief you beforehand).

The Hugh House, 309 E. Oklahoma Ave., will be the first home on the tour. Click on the image to see a larger view.

Volunteers also help with coordinating shuttle service, selling tickets, and a million and one other tasks that seem to come up spontaneously. If you’re new to ONK, this is a really enjoyable way to get to know more of your neighbors. Contact Lauren Rider, Tour Chairperson, 964-3905, for more information about volunteering. You can e-mail Lauren at laurenellent@yahoo.com

Parking is at St. Mary’s Hospital and shuttles will run back and forth from the parking lot to the various homes on the tour. Tickets available at all Knox County Kroger stores. Advance tickets are $9. Day of the tour, $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, Shuttles and parking are free. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult ticket.
