Holiday Memories

|
By James Pierce
My fondest memories involve the gathering of family at my Aunt's home for Christmas Eve dinner. The table was covered with many lovingly prepared foods. My favorite was the pecan pie that my Aunt always made me feel was prepared especially for me. Just because I liked it so much. Having us all there as a family was important and we made being together our holiday tradition. After that wonderful dinner we gathered around the magnificent Christmas tree and opened presents. You know, I cannot remember any of the presents I received. However, the memory of opening them surrounded by family is as vivid as if it were yesterday. Even though I was very young those are the memories I still carry with me through each holiday season. I hope all of you have traditions for this season that give you and your family memories to cherish for many years to come. Whether the time together is spent around the Christmas dinner table, attending a Christmas Mass, or lighting Chanukah candles, taking a day together and joining Old North Knoxville for our Victorian Holiday Home Tour is also a great memory maker. The things we remember most are not the gifts we received but the time spent sharing the season with family and friends.
God bless you all and make this a memorable holiday season. |
