Dear Neighbors and Friends,
Almost two years ago I took on the job of Old North News editor, a job I have enjoyed tremendously. But now it is time for me to pass it on.
I moved to this neighborhood nearly 4 years ago and first came in contact with ONK as a “lifestyle” during the 2004 Holiday Home Tour. I was so impressed with the sense of community that I couldn’t imagine ever wanting to live somewhere else.
Unfortunately we can’t always have everything we want, which is why I will be leaving Knoxville and my beloved neighborhood in a few months (if you know someone interested in buying a fixer-upper in the hood, send them my way
OldNorthNews@aol.com).
Before I go, I would like to thank all the individuals who make this place great. Everyone of you adds something unique to this community. I also want to give a huge “thank you” to all of you who have helped me put out this newsletter over the years, by writing articles, labeling and tabbing newsletters and providing addressed labels. As a peripheral to that I want to thank Eddie Willis, of Dande Printing, for being so patient with me and my “flex-deadlines”…
I will miss wading though a slightly toxic creek with hooks and trash bags to collect shopping carts and trash. I’ll especially miss the treats Beth provides to reward our efforts. I’ll miss porch parties and going out on 3 hour walks, because Zeek and I had to stop and talk to everyone we saw. There are many things I will miss about ONK, but most of all, I will miss the wonderful sense of community and the many friends I have made during my time here. God willing, we’ll be neighbors again some day.
Sincerely,
Margo Hughes
