Things to be Thankful For

Friendly neighbors and Birthdays
In August Mrs. Edith Patterson, a longtime resident of ONK, was given a birthday reception by her cousins. Mrs. Patterson wishes to thank all the friends and neighbors who came by for the event; she was most appreciative.

Volunteers and Helpers
A big thank you to everyone involved in making the ice cream social a success. Thanks to Dodi Payne for making sure there was ice cream. Thanks to everyone who helped set up tents, tables and chairs. Thanks to everyone involved in making a park out of the two empty lots on Oklahoma. That project has come such a long way that we proudly hosted our first neighborhood event at our neighborhood park.

Dog walkers who carry bags
Old North Knoxville is a wonderful place to own a dog. You don’t have to drive somewhere else to enjoy tree lined sidewalks or leave the neighborhood to take your dog to a Greenway. It is great to see how many people care about keeping ONK streets clean by picking up after their dogs. By that same token, it is sad to see that not everyone shares those values. Some people let their dogs go wherever they please and then just walk away. So, as much as this is a commendation for everyone who does carry a bag, it is also a request for everyone who doesn’t to start.

Writers
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this edition of Old North News. I am proud to say that this newsletter has been a true neighborhood effort and I appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm!

The Webmaster
Thank you to Kim Davis for the excellent job she does maintaining www.oldnorthknoxville.org, the ONK website. ONK would particularly like to thank Kim for the enhancements to the virtual version of the newsletter; she adds hyperlinks, larger colored pictures, and makes last minute corrections if needed.

The Friendly Printer
Thank you to Eddie Willis of Dande Printing service for making the editor transition as smooth as possible and, despite some minor snags, making sure that Old North Neighbors received their newsletters on time.
