The President's Corner
Old North gains New Neighbors

Wow, what a summer!  Despite the heat and mosquitoes we managed to have some fun. We had block parties for National Neighbors Night Out, and we had our 7th annual Ice Cream Social. Both were a lot of fun and gave us all a chance to socialize and to meet some new neighbors as well. While we are on the topic of new neighbors, I would like to welcome a few. Our Welcoming Committee delivered some home baked goodies, plants, ONK mugs, and neighborhood information packets to a number of new residents.

I would like to welcome Catherine Suddarth. She bought the home at 224 Kenyon. She found our neighborhood by doing a realtor search of homes 75 years or older. She is a golf consultant, moved here from Greensboro, NC, and has a pet bird named Ozone who loves Beth Booker's oatmeal cookies. We are glad she found us.

Next, I would like to welcome Sean and Jennifer Bolen. They bought the home at 215 East Oklahoma. They are doing a fantastic restoration on their home that had been vacant for several years. Sean is from Knoxville, but Jennifer is from Jersey. They were just married on July 6, 2002. Congratulations! Sean and Jennifer moved here from Maplehurst with their 2 cats. They are now expecting their first child, a girl. Congratulations again!

Our next new neighbors moved here from Atlanta. Welcome to Richard Cameron and Tracy Kauffman. They bought the home at 218 East Scott. Richard owns a cleaning company and Tracy owns a mortgage company. While Richard was originally from Fountain City, Tracy was from Nashville. We are glad to have them as new neighbors.

While we were all sad to see Dave and Lynn Palmer move, we are pleased to get a wonderful new family at 121 East Scott. Mark and Rhonda Parker moved here from Atlanta. I believe both were originally from Virginia. They have a 6 month old son named Nathan, who was born on Valentine's Day. Mark is a business software engineer for IBM, and Rhonda is a graduate student at UT in speech pathology.

Last but not least we have a new neighbor at 330 East Oklahoma. Brian Youree purchased the home in July, and has big plans for the restoration of the house and landscaping the yard. He is a graduate student at UT in horticulture. His family is from Memphis.

If you know of somebody who has moved into the neighborhood, call 521-7884 and let me know.
