Social's success has many people to be thankful for

Neighbors using the tables and chairs set up by volunteers at the recent Ice Cream Social.

Putting on the Ice Cream Social took the efforts and help of many people in Old North Knoxville. People to pass out flyers, people to blow up balloons, people to cut the grass and clean up the lawn, people to put up decorations, tables, chairs, podium, tents, people to get the ice cream and people to serve it, people to make sure we had the trolley and fire truck, people to provide live music, and people to help with the clean up.

There was also help from the Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, and Knoxville Area Transit. There was also a good turn out from elected officials and those running for elected office. And certainly if there was not a good turn out, all the effort would not have been as enjoyable as it was.

To make sure the 7th Annual Ice Cream Social a success took work from many people and Old North Knoxville is blessed to have involved and caring neighbors. Two people in particular that we at Old North News would like to single out are ONK president Tomica Miller. Tomica printed and sent out the special invitations to the elected officials and those running for office. She also took the off the week of the Ice Cream Social and made sure the tables, chairs, and tents were delivered on time and in place.

Old North News would also like to mention Beth Booker who, despite being a new mom, allowed her yard to be used for the Social and kept an eye on her daughter so her husband could help out with set up and the trolley tour for the mayor and guests. Success has many fathers. Failure is an orphan. This year's Ice Cream Social had many fathers and mothers.
