Time, They Are A'Changing

For almost three years, I have been writing, laying out, printing, stapling and mailing the Old North News, and I can honestly say that it has been a labor of love. While the newsletter has not been of the greatest quality, I do believe that it has contributed to helping our neighborhood become a better-informed and cohesive entity. Well, now I have some help and watch our dust! David Booker has volunteered to help with the newsletter and I am sure his knowledge and expertise will significantly improve the quality of each issue. David has already made several suggestions for improvement, some of which you can see in this very issue. Note the article on identifying types of houses and the very timely discussion on the steps to take prior to making improvements/changes to the outside of your house and lot. We are adding a "classified" section in which you are welcome to advertise items you may want to dispose of, or yard sales. Just call, fax, e-mail or write us with the information and we will see that it gets in the next issue. Speaking of the next issue, please note that the masthead shows that this issue is the September/October 2000 issue. When I first started doing this, I tried to make it a monthly newsletter. However, I found that , since I really try to have a life, I was just unable to maintain that pace. Therefore, I am officially calling this a bi-monthly publication. Hopefully, with the addition of David and the extra time, what you will have is quality as opposed to quantity. Keep your eye on the Old North News and look for the changes. Let us know what you like or what you would like to see added; we are always open for suggestions and we welcome ideas for articles, or even better articles already written. |
