I Ate Until I Thought I'd Burst

Saturday, August 19, 2000 saw about 80 of Old North Knoxville's ice cream fanatics get their fill of Mayfield ice cream covered with some typical and not so typical toppings at the neighborhood's third annual ice cream social.  I know it seems trite, but this one was the best yet.  As you can see from the pictures, everyone had a great time.  We were pleased to have County Commissioner David Collins join us with his fiancée Karen Simsen.  We were even more pleased when we found out that David and Karen had just become engaged and we were the first function they attended as an engaged couple.  Congratulations David and Karen!  Elsewhere during the social found neighbors meeting neighbors they may not have ever known before or renewing old acquaintances they had not seen for a long time.  Running through the whole event were a slew of neighborhood children, eating ice cream, drinking lemonade and just generally having a great time!  Many thinks are due to Dodi Payne, social chair, for again working so hard to make the event a great success.  Plus we can't forget her husband Marvin Payne as well as Andy Anderson, Pete Creel, Tomica Miller and Lynne Palmer for all the help they provided.  We also want to thank Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and for allowing us to again use their yard for the social.  If you missed the ice cream social this year you missed one of the most fun events of the year, so don't plan on being absent next year for the fourth annual ice cream social!!
Everyone had a great time.  Are you in this picture? Don't be missing from this picture next year!
