Meet Chief Owen at June ONK Meeting

Chief Sterling Owen, IV

Have a question, concern, or comment for Knoxville's new police chief? Attend the June 30th meeting and you will have the opportunity to say hello or have your say with Chief Sterling Owen, IV when he comes to speak to Old North Knoxville residents.

Owen retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in 1995, after almost 23 years of service. He was the owner of Sterling Owen and Associates, a consulting company specializing in security planning and Counterintelligence Operational oversight when he was selected to replace retired Chief Phil Keith. As an FBI Special Agent, Chief Owen spent 1.5 years working undercover, both as an operative and a supervisor. He also investigated or supervised both property and personal crimes, as well as served as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team Leader. Additional accomplishments include receiving the national Criminal Investigator of the Year award in 1985.

If you should see any suspicious activity in the neighborhood, call 215-4010. If it is an emergency, dial 911. As a police officer once told ONK residents, if you think it's suspicious, the Knoxville Police Department probably will, too. Better to call than not.

The June 30th Old North Knoxville monthly neighborhood meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Broadway Baptist Church, near the corner of Broadway and Gill. Come at 6:15 p.m. for the barbecue potluck and stay for the meeting. (Details here.) Note, the potluck and meeting are the 5th Thursday of June.
