Second ONK Potluck Dinner Serves up Food, Fellowship, and Fun

Thursday, April 24th your ONK (Old North Knoxville) neighborhood held its regular monthly meeting. For those of you who were not able to attend, it was a normal meeting with committee reports and input from the attendees and visitors, votes on important neighborhood items, just like always except, this meeting was preceded by the second annual neighborhood potluck dinner. If you weren't there did you miss something! The neighborhood provided a spiral cut honey baked ham and everyone brought something to share. We had corn chowder, broccoli something (can you tell I don't like broccoli?), fruit salad, potatoes, green beans and various other sides to the entrée. We also had steamboat sandwiches, chips and drinks left from the traffic-calming meeting. But more important we had desserts. Boy did we have desserts! There were brownies, cookies, banana pudding and other items that I don't even know the name of, but that didn't stop me from sampling until I couldn't move. And I wasn't alone. There were 40 to 50 people, including children, who filled their plates with edible goodies, even the broccoli stuff.

Even though the food was outstanding, the opportunity to visit with our neighbors was the reason for the potluck and it fulfilled that function admirably. We were honored to have a number of Knoxville's finest police officers present, which gave us even further opportunity to talk to them on a one to one basis and show our support for the fine job they are doing in our neighborhood. It did seem like old home week with the presence of Sergeant Uzzle, Officer Bible and Lieutenant Hoskins among us again. Welcome back guys!
