What runs from Fountain City in the north to Volunteer Landing on the Tennessee River in the south and had 130 bags of garbage, 18 tires, 60 pieces of scrap metal, 2 grocery carts, 1 drum, 3 bikes, 1 garbage can, 4 wooden palates, 1 large tarp, 1 bigwheel toy, 1 lawn chair, and 2 baby strollers? The answer: 1st Creek before the first annual all creek clean up on April 12th.

Coordinated by the Izaak Walton League, 58 volunteers from various neighborhoods and organizations participated in the clean up event, which included the stretch that runs through Old North Knoxville. Beth Booker coordinated the clean up for the Old North part and gathered fourteen volunteers from Fort Sanders Hospital, where she works, seven volunteers from Old North Knoxville, and even a couple from Fourth and Gill. For her efforts, the League gave Beth an official Izaak Walton League cap.

This is the second time Old North Knoxville residents have cleaned up a part of 1st Creek, and there is preliminary discussion on a fall creek clean up of the Old North section of the creek. Thank you to all who helped improve this piece of living history. We'll see you in the fall.
