Let's Do Tee Shirts
|
|
Several years ago our neighborhood designed and had a bunch of tee shirts made
up that we thought we could sell and make a bunch of money from. Wrong! Everyone
really liked the shirts and those who did get them wear them often, particularly
at neighborhood functions or when we are showing solidarity at a city council
meeting or talking to various city officials. However, we never did make a
bundle from them. Did we learn our lesson? Well, yes and no. We are going to
have some more tee shirts made up, but this time we are not looking to make a
bundle from them. What we will do this time is offer them to residents at cost.
We do want to offer something that looks good and shows that you are a part of a
great neighborhood without breaking anyone.
With all that said we now need a design and colors for the new tee shirt and you can imagine what it would like if designed by the neighborhood board! So what we are doing is having a contest! Isn’t that exciting and innovative? We are having a prize for the winning design- 2 free tee shirts and dinner for 2 at the Creamery in Fountain City. Now that really is a valuable prize. If you have eaten there you know why. If you haven’t eaten there you need to win just to get a great treat. The rules for the contest are simple. Submit a design for the new Old North Knoxville tee shirt. We need a color and designs for what should be on the shirt. There is one requirement and that is that the design must include the neighborhood logo (you can see that just above this article on the left). Designs must be submitted by the June neighborhood meeting (Thursday, June 27,2003) where we will vote on them and can be given to any board member. There is a list of board members on the front page of this newsletter. Designs don’t need to be done professionally. We are more interested in the design than a slick presentation. You can sketch it or cut and paste it from pictures or do it on a computer or even just describe it in writing. The winner will be listed and the winning design shown in the next Old North News and on our web site. You will also be informed the same way how to get the shirts when they are completed.
