We at Old North News want to help our readers become better acquainted with the businesses in our area and what they have to offer. If you own or run a business in the Old North Knoxville area and would like to be profiled, contact Dave Palmer, editor of Old North News, at 673-8995. Each newsletter with a business profiled will have an article with the title “Businesses in Our Neighborhood.” Click on that title and you will be taken to a business profile. In this installment we profile Graning Paint Company Old houses need paint. New houses need paint. If you own a house in Old North Knoxville, sooner or later there will be some part of it that needs painting: exterior, interior, trim work or an entire wall. Or maybe you need some other sort or wall covering, or a paint brush with angled bristles so you can do the work yourself and make it look like a professional did it. Should you find yourself in need of paint or other painting-related items, check out Graning Paint Company. at 311 N. Broadway. They sell "paint, wall covering, and sundries." Owners Paul and Ken Adams offer "friendly, personal service at more than competitive prices." They're open 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. To find out if they have something you need, call them at 865-546-4881. While you don't need approval from the Historic Zoning Commission to select the new colors for your house, you still might need help in deciding which finish style and which color shade to use. In business for 46 years, Graning Paint's staff of seven employees has experience and knowledge, and they will help you find the tools and paint to get the job done right. Ken Adams says that all the people at Graning "want to thank Old North Knoxville for your support through the many years."
