Neighbor Notes

As always, the advent of Spring and Summer brings a flurry of lost and found.  Lost are some good neighbors and friends and found are new neighbors, and hopefully, friends.

We are very sorry to say goodbye to John and Ann Crisler.  John has taken a new job in Alabama and for some strange reason Ann feels that she should go with him.  Go figure!  John and Ann have both been active in the neighborhood with both serving on the Board while John founded our very successful web site and was web master for several years.  John also served as vice-president and was involved in the TNT committee.  Good luck John and Ann - we will miss you.

Ben and Laura Parham recently left our neighborhood to reside closer to their business, "State of the Art Stained Glass," in West Knoxville.  While we can understand Laura not wanting to make that long commute with Eric and Trevor every day, we are sorry to lose them here in Old North.  Ben and Laura were kind enough to have their house on tour three times during their tenure here, and considering the shape it was in when they bought it, that was dedication above and beyond!  Keep in touch, Ben and Laura!

Welcome to our new neighbors, David and Beth Booker, who have bought and moved into Ben and Laura's former house.  David and Beth come to us from North Hills.  They have always liked the sidewalks and houses in Old North, so when the opportunity arose they jumped at it.  David is a technical writer (which puts him way out of my league) and Beth is a nutritionist.  (She already knew several of our residents from her work, like Stephanie Lavoie and Lisa Cooper, so they are forewarned and forearmed.)  Do you realize we now have two nutritionists in our neighborhood?  We certainly have no excuse for not being the healthiest neighborhood in Knoxville!

Congratulations to Doug and Dani Owensby on their marriage last month.  What was even more special about their marriage was the location of the ceremony.  They chose to get married in their home on Scott Avenue.  Since the home is located in Old North, they couldn't just vacuum the floor and polish the silver.  OH NO, they have spent untold hours, days, weeks and months renovating their new (old) home with the deadline of the wedding hanging over their heads.  If they could do all this, work and still stay together, you know that this marriage will last!  By the way, by all reports the wedding and reception went well and with decorum so you really didn't have to leave home that weekend next door neighbor, Pete Creel.
