3rd Annual Ice Cream Social Fast Approaching
|
|
Saturday, August 19, 2000, has been selected as the date for this year's
neighborhood ice cream social. Following a long-standing tradition, (well
it is the 3rd year! For us, that is a long time!) the event will be held at the Beta
Sigma Phi House from 6:30 to 8:00 in the evening. This gives
everyone time to eat dinner before filling up on ice cream and still finish
early enough so the kids are not kept up late. As always, your
neighborhood association is furnishing the ice cream (strawberry, vanilla and
chocolate only; we don't want you to have to make too many decisions), ice tea
and lemonade. You are responsible for bringing your favorite topping to
share with your neighbors.
Chair Dodi Payne anticipates the biggest get-together yet and looks forward to seeing and meeting all of our new neighbors there. She also wants to remind everyone, that even though our local politicos are all invited and welcomed, this is a social occasion only. There will be no speeches allowed. It is a great opportunity to meet your local officials on an informal basis, however. In the past years practically every city council representative and the mayor have attended. In addition, both the local fire station personnel and police department officers are invited to join us and meet the people they protect. Mark the date in your calendar - Saturday, August 19. If you can spare some time either before or after the social, Dodi would welcome your help in setting up and/or cleaning up after. Give her a call at 673-0036. We will also be awarding the cream scooper to a very few lucky individuals. If you would like to be considered for this awesome position, please forward your request, with your credentials, to Dodi. Thanks to the had work of Dodi and the other volunteers, this event has become a highlight of the Summer for Old North Knoxville. Please plan to attend! Remember, this, as all other neighborhood events, is open to everyone in the neighborhood. |
