In this installment we profile

YEE-HAW INDUSTRIES

A Yee-Haw designed and printed poster used to promote a recent event in downtown Knoxville.

Yee-Haw Industries specializes in original art-like products- from letterpress posters promoting special events, music acts, and theater shows to handmade, woodcut, fine art prints. "Our work is custom-to-order, designed, set, and pressed by hand," co-owner Julie Belcher said. "We do all this on recycled, reconditioned, and antique printing equipment in a contemporary way."

Located at 413 S. Gay Street, owners and Old North Knoxville residents Julie Belcher and Kevin Bradley have been doing this unique merging of printing and art, past and present since March 1997. You can see some of their work at their store, which is open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Clients range from places as far away as Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY, to as close as Memphis, Clinton, and Knoxville, TN. Occasionally they are closed when "we are getting ready or away doing a festival or show." If you want to make sure they are open, call 865-533-1812.

Yee-Haw also recently hosted a holiday show with unique local, regional & national artists. They have done this for several years from the Friday before Thanksgiving to December 23rd. "We also have occasional art openings and sponsorships in interesting spaces in Knoxville, including a summer installation with Annette Bongers & Melody Reeves in a vacant storefront window on Gay Street."

You can take a virtual "tour," see some of their work, read more about Julie and Kevin, Yee-Haw itself, and even purchase items on-line by going to www.yeehawindustries.com.
