Time to Renew Your
Membership
Yes, it's that time. Christmas is over, a new year has begun, and it is time to renew your membership to Old North Knoxville, Inc. (ONK), the neighborhood association for Old North Knoxville. The cost? How about $10 for a yearly individual membership and $15 for a family, and these prices haven't gone up in at least 10 years. A business membership is $50. What does your money do? Well, it helps pay for this newsletter for one example. The yearly cost to print and mail the newsletter to people in Old North Knoxville is over $2,500. That's a fair amount of money for a neighborhood organization to pay, and that's just the production and distribution costs. All the labor to write, photograph, layout, and prepare the newsletter for mailing is donated by your neighbors. Other things your membership dues help pay for are Meals-on-Wheels for those who need it in Old North Knoxville. Last year alone ONK contributed $500 to that. Contributions were also made to Fulton High School, Knox Heritage, and even to the restoration effort of the Tennessee Theater, just to name a few other areas where your money goes. Items such as the banners hanging at neighborhood entrances and flowers around the markers were also paid for in part by dues money. Nobody who serves as an officer of ONK, or is on the board, or works on any of the numerous committees from the Beautification Committee to the Neighbors helping Neighbors Committee gets a dime of any of your due's money. And the cost to you for this newsletter, the Meals-on-Wheels, the First Creek Clean Up, the Neighborhood Clean Ups, and a list of other things is only $10 a year for an individual and $15 for a family. Your dues helps us help each other. You can either come to the Jan. 30th meeting at 1411 Armstrong and pay your dues or send your check to Old North Knoxville, Inc., P.O. Box 3896, Knoxville, TN 37927-3896. Make your check payable to Old North Knoxville. Thanks. Return to newsletter table of contents
