Either way, local businesses were once a thriving part of any neighborhood and we at Old North News would like to help our readers become better acquainted with the businesses in our area and what they have to offer. The business we are profiling is Elgin Painting Service Owned and operated by Hunter L. Elgin, Elgin Painting Service has two full time and three part time employees. In business since 1994, Elgin Painting Service does both interior and exterior painting, works on both homes and businesses. You may have seen him and his crew painting David Vogel's new home (both inside and out) on East Scott Avenue, Tomica Miller's porch or Kim Davis's and Fred Sahms' house on Glenwood Avenue (see sequence below), just to name a few of the homes he has done in Old North Knox. He has recently finished painting the exterior of Beth and David Booker's home on East Scott Avenue. Though he has been self-employed for six years, Hunter Elgin says he has "over thirty-five years of experience" and that he and his crew are "neat and dependable, fully insured, and all work is guaranteed." He also says Elgin Painting Service offers free estimates and that "no job is too small." In addition to painting, Elgin Painting Service offers pressure washing, drywall and ceiling repair, minor carpentry work, window replacement, and staining and sealing.
