This year our neighborhood spaghetti dinner will be held on Friday, March 10, 2000, from 5 PM until 7 PM. Thanks to the generosity of our neighbors at 4th Presbyterian Church at 1323 Broadway, we are able to hold this year's dinner in their fine facilities right here in the Old North neighborhood. As always, everyone in the neighborhood is welcome and there is no charge for anyone. Everything will be provided by your neighborhood asociation. Social Chair Dodi Payne, says that this year's dinner will be bigger and better than last year and she is looking forward to the closer location allowing more of our neighbors to attend this great fellowship event. Pete Creel, by popular demand, is again making his secret spaghetti sauce. Pete's sauce was universally acclaimed by those who attended last year's dinner, and we are pleased that he has again agreed to put forth the considerable effort necessary to make this great dish. As a matter of fact, he is taking the whole day off Friday so he can devote his attention to this culinary event. (Did you know that Pete spent years in New Orleans? Could that be part of the secret behind his sauce?) Dodi is putting out a call for help in setting up before and cleanup up after the dinner. If you can help, please call Dodi at 673-0036 or just show up on the 10th before the dinner starts and we'll put you to work. One of the comments we've had in the past about our events is that it is hard for some of our seniors and disabled neighbors to get to and from them. If this applies to you, please call either Dodi or Dave Palmer at 673-8995 and we will be happy to arrange for transportation for you. Our neighborhood association is committed to insuring that every activity of the Old North Knoxville neighborhood is open and available to everyone in the neighborhood. Also, it is worth repeating that this event is open to everyone in the neighborhood, whether you own or rent, belong to the association or not. So mark your calendar and come on out for some great food and better fellowship with your neighbors. |
