Bits and Pieces

Mark Tuesday, March 7, 2000 on your calendar.  At 7 PM that evening, the Home Tour Committee will have its first meeting for the 2000 Holiday Home Tour.  (Yes, I know it seems like it's too soon.)  The meeting will be held at Penny Baxter's home at 522 E. Scott.  Come on and join the fun while we move ahead to make this year's tour even better that ever.  By the way, Penny ahs agreed to chair the Tour committee this year.  What a way to get out of having your home on the tour!

We are pleased to see the changes taking place at the North Knoxville Church of God on Kenyon.  They are putting an addition to the front of the church to allow for construction of handicapped bathrooms and to improve the facade of the church.  These improvements will help the facade of the church to be more consistent with the rest of the neighborhood.

It's always good to see the renovation going on around our neighborhood and we just want to issue our quarterly reminder that it is wise to check with the Historic Zoning Commission before you make any exterior changes to your home.  It may be that you will need a certificate of appropriateness for the changes you have in mind.  Don't get scared.  It is easy to do and Ann Bennett stands ready to walk you through the process.  Just give her a call at 215-3795.
