Neighbors Who Care
Chester Kilgore would like to thank Jo Ann and Andy Anderson for repairing his 100+ year old brick sidewalk. They removed and numbered each handmade brick put it back in it's exact original place. They cut out large tree roots which were growing under the sidewalk and had caused a dangerous buckle. “I am thankful to live in a neighborhood where people actually see others in need and step up to help them. Jo Ann and Andy, thank you for being such good ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ and for setting an example for us all!”
Neighbors Who Represent ONK
When Knox Heritage held their 2006 Preservation Awards several ONK neighbors were honored with awards. Among them,
Chester Kilgore who received a lifetime achievement award, Ray & Greg Hyde who were honored for compatible new construction at Shepherd Place and
Sean and Jennifer Bolen who were awarded for their restoration project on East Scott. We are proud to have these proactive individuals in our neighborhood and hope the examples they have set to preserve, promote and protect the ONK neighborhood will be followed by many.
At the risk of beating this grant thing to death, another set of neighbors we are proud to be represented by are
David and Beth Booker. Rohm and Haas was so impressed with how well David Booker had his ducks in a row that they granted ONK $30,000. I just wanted it written in stone how grateful we are for David and Beth’s efforts in the continued improvement and beautification of Old North Knoxville.
Democracy
This fall ONK neighbors had the opportunity to be part of the democratic process not only on a national level, but also on a much smaller scale. Every year in October ONK neighbors vote on their board members and slate of officers. For a complete list of new and current BOD members and officers (as of October), please consult The President’s Corner on page 6. All ONK neighbors are encouraged to participate in these elections to make sure they are being represented by the BOD members and Officers of their choice.
