Here come the Holidays, Here comes the Tour

That’s right folks; it’s that time of year again! Temperatures have become chilly, leaves are falling and the home tour is happening. In fact, this is ONK’s 18th annual Victorian Holiday Home Tour. Ten of our neighbors will showcase their holiday décor and historic architecture. The line-up for the 2006 tour features 8 houses, one business (the Time Warp Tea Room) and one church (First Lutheran Church).

Through the annual tour, ONK promotes historical preservation as well as emphasizes its heritage, diversity and unique character. The tall oaks and varied home styles compose an appealing landscape close to the city center. The tour also serves as a fund raiser for our neighborhood association; funding operating expenses, the ice cream social, and neighborhood mailings.

This year the Tour takes place on Saturday, December 2nd, from 4pm-9pm and Sunday, December 3rd, from 12:30pm-5:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at all area Kroger stores, First Choice Community Credit Union branches, and Ryan & Co. Antiques on Broadway. Advance tickets are $9; day-of-event tickets are $12 ($9 for seniors). The tickets are available at our ticket booth in the Woodland Ave. parking lot of St. Mary’s Hospital, where tour guests can park at no cost and ride trolleys to the tour homes for free.

So, pass the word to friends, neighbors or co-workers. The tour is a great way to kick-off the holiday season, entertain friends and relatives, and pick up decorating ideas.
