Deck The Halls Already

By:  David Palmer

I know, I know, it's too early. The kids still haven't come down from the sugar high from Halloween and you certainly have not thought about getting the turkey or who to invite for Thanksgiving. So what am I doing talking about decorating already? Well, this is the last newsletter before the holidays and I really want to remind you that our Old North Knoxville neighborhood will again sponsor a house-decorating contest in conjunction with our annual holiday home tour. The tour this year will be on December 7th and 8th. This means that the contest will be judged on Friday December 6th.

Santa welcomes you to the 14th Annual Victorian Holiday Home Tour this December 7th and 8th. He plans to make a visit to the home of Chester Kilgore and will speak to good girls and boys of all ages.

I'm sure you all remember how it goes, but I'm going to repeat it anyway. Your neighborhood association will award $25 gift certificates from Kroger for the homes our esteemed judges pick as the best decorated in Old North. You don't have to formally enter. All you have to do is make sure that your holiday decorations are up and, if there are lights, have them on by 5 p.m. on Friday December 6th. That evening our crack team of judges, imported from far outside the neighborhood (well, from outside the neighborhood anyway) will tour the neighborhood looking at all the beautiful decorations and trying to decide. The certificates will be delivered to the winners and the results printed in the January/February newsletter. Simple, right?

This year marks the 14th year of the neighborhood holiday home tour and the 4th year of the decorating contest. Both events get better and better each year and we are sure that this year will be the best ever. With your help and participation it's guaranteed!
