One of the best things about living in our neighborhood is the opportunity to meet and welcome new neighbors. One of David Vogel's favorite sayings is that what he likes best about our neighborhood is the diversity we enjoy. That diversity is ongoing partly because of new neighbors moving in - each with their own unique background and viewpoint. This issue we welcome Betsy Hooper and Eddie Taube to their new home on Grainger Avenue. Betsy moved to Knoxville from Boston about four years ago. She chose to live in Old North as much for convenience as for charm. (Plus she's always wanted a creek in her backyard.) Betsy is an Architect with a passion for folk music. She is a member of the band "Contra Amazons" and is music director for the Knoxville Scottish Music Club AND plays in a duo called "Drops of Brandy." She plays fiddle, bagpipes and Hurdy-gurdy. Oh yes, she is also tearing into the renovation of her home with gusto. Eddie Taube was a long term resident of Fort Sanders and was active in the neighborhood association there. (We need your help, Eddie!) He is currently working as an Urban Forester. As a by-product of his tree work, he often has firewood for sale. He is also a fledgling birder with a particular interest in Buteos.
