240 Oklahoma

Have you looked at 240 Oklahoma lately?  Well, you should.  The old foundation that was beyond repair has been removed and a whole new foundation installed.  By the time you read this, there will probably be a new roof installed.  The porch invites you to come and sit.  Cathy Irwin of Knox Heritage says she expects the outside phase of the renovation to be completed by mid February of 2000.

In case you have been asleep or out of the country for a while, you should know that 240 Oklahoma was selected by Knox Heritage as a pilot project to acquire, renovate and sell homes in historic neighborhoods that are endangered.  Working in conjunction with a variety of organizations and the City of Knoxville, Knox Heritage is in the process of renovating 240 Oklahoma while, at the same time, soliciting qualified people to purchase it.  As part of our contribution to this worthwhile project, the Board of Old North Knoxville, Inc. at the November meeting voted to donate $2500 to Knox Heritage to be used on 240 Oklahoma.  This is a project that can only help our neighborhood and raise the value of our own homes and we applaud Knox Heritage for taking on this huge project.
