National Night Out

According to the NNO website, the day is designed to “heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.” Several neighbors hosted NNO events, and despite the sweltering temperatures many neighbors took the opportunity to attend these events. The pictures are from the event hosted by Ernie Roberts, where neighbors shared food, chalk art and even had the opportunity to chat with KPD officers. Neighborhood watch captain Pete Creel paroled the neighborhood, passing out T-shirts and other party favors at events.
