Due to the four month gap since the last issue of the newsletter there are many things and people to be thankful for.
Thank you to David Booker for his many years as the editor of Old North
News. He has done a fine job keeping the neighborhood informed by dedicating countless hours of his time to covering the Old North Knoxville beat. In addition to writing articles on past events, David kept neighbors informed on dates and times of upcoming events by listing them in the newsletter and sending e-mail reminders for meetings, cleanups and anything else neighbors might want to be involved in.
Thank you to Beth Booker for organizing and coordinating neighborhood and creek cleanups, making sure volunteers have the supplies they need, and always providing a delicious lunch afterwards.
Thank you to all the neighbors involved in keeping our streets and creek clean. See
cleanup articles for details.
Thank you to all the neighbors involved in the ETP-TV Telethon. On Saturday March 18th ONK helped raise $8595 in pledges at the fund raiser. ONK has been involved with ETP-TV since 1981. Neighbors who volunteered were
Chet Kilgore, Janie Parker, Pete Creel, Donna Brechko, Nancy Hugh, Lauren
Rider, Dani Owenby, Penny Baxter, Andy Anderson, Sonja Anderson, James Pierce,
Ernie Roberts and Margo Hughes. Special thanks to Andy Anderson for rallying the neighbors to participate.
Thank you to Tomica Miller for her many years of service to ONK. While Dave and T will be sorely missed they have found another project in Union County and we wish them luck in their endeavors. Tomica was recognized by the neighborhood with a dinner bell and plaque at the April meeting.
Thank you to ONK neighbors Julie Belcher and Kevin Bradely of Yee Haw Industries for providing the neighborhood yard sale posters and the Andersons for taking care of the advertising. The weather was lovely and about 20 neighbors had yard sales.
Thank you to Allen Graham, Horticulture Services Manager, Tony
Buckner, Public Service Foreman, and the "Zone B" team, all from the City of Knoxville. When asked, they stepped forward and did work not even discussed in order to improve the park site on E. Oklahoma.
Thank you to all the members of the home tour committee. The home tour is an important event for our neighborhood and it couldn’t be the popular event it is without all of the hard work the committee members put in for several months before the tour.
Thank you to the Beautification Committee for putting together a lovely tour of gardens and serving a delicious lunch.
Thank you to all the neighbors who serve on committees, the board or volunteer their time for the neighborhood in any other way. Your time and dedication are what makes this neighborhood such a wonderful community and a great place to live.
In the event that someone was forgotten, I offer my sincere apologies. If you think a certain neighbor should be thanked in this column, please e-mail me at .
