On June 4th, the Old North Knoxville Garden Club and Beautification Committee hosted its first garden tour. Twenty-two neighbors gathered to tour four neighborhood gardens. The gardens were both well established and new. The largest garden extended over four city lots, the smallest was living room sized and tucked behind walls.

Gardeners shared tips and looked for solutions to their own garden problems. One garden featured a plant trivia game as owners sought to determine the names of some of the plants they had chosen (and forgotten.) The hosts of one garden provided visitors with a plant inventory list of their extensive offerings.

After completing the tour, the guests were treated to lunch on Cathy Shuck and Tim Sparer’s screened porch. And, for those who just hadn’t had enough of gardens and gardening, Jo Ann and Andy Anderson opened the gate to their garden for an after-lunch tour.

If you missed it, you missed it. This was such a fun event that it will be repeated next year. The committee already has commitments for two of the four garden sites.
