Want Some "Stuff"?

Several months ago I mentioned in these spaces that Knox Heritage, working with volunteers (including some from our own neighborhood) had salvaged a lot of "stuff" from the houses being torn down for new apartments in Fort Sanders.  At that time I announced that the salvaged material was for sale with volunteers who helped in the salvage getting the first crack, followed by Fort Sanders residents, followed by residents of historic neighborhoods. Well, let me serve as a reminder and also a warning.  There are still a lot of great items for sale with particular emphasis on mantels at truly rock bottom prices.  However, at the end of October, all that remains will be sold to anyone who walks through the door.  This is being done for several reasons, including: KH really needs the money; they have had the stuff for over a year now; it's been moved several times with increasingly reluctant volunteer labor and it will probably need to be moved again before very long.  So if you need something for your home and you've been thinking about getting original materials at reasonable prices while helping a very worthwhile and needy organization, NOW is the time to act.  We know there are some people in west Knoxville who are just chaffing at the bit to get at this stash (and others who will buy it up in large quantities and sell it for ten times that amount in areas like Atlanta - webmaster).  Contact me (at 673-8955), or call Knox Heritage at 523-8008.  You will probably need to leave a message and wait for someone to get back with you.
