It's Time for Ice Cream in Old North

Old North Knoxville's third annual ice cream social will be held this year on Saturday, August 19, 2000, from 6:30 PM till 8PM.  Our good neighbors from the Beta Sigma Phi House at 1411 Armstrong Avenue have again agreed to let us use their front lawn for the occasion.

Chairperson Dodi Payne says she is expecting an even better and bigger event than last year's successful social.  As before, the ice cream social is open to all residents of Old North KnoxvilleThat is to say, everyone living in the area bounded by Central, Woodland and Leonard Place across Broadway.

Cost this year as in the past is zero, nothing, nada, zip, gratis and without charge.  Your neighborhood group picks up the cost of ice cream, tea, lemonade, plates, spoons, napkins.  Did I forget anything?  Oh yes, toppings.  Well, that's one of the things that makes this event so interesting.  We ask that you bring a topping to share.  This can get very interesting with some highly "unusual" toppings to say the least.  Come on over and see the results.

We realize that school will be in session by then and that is the main reason we are holding the event on a Saturday this year.  And, by staring at 6:30 PM, everyone should have a chance to eat dinner before the event so we can't be blamed for ruining small appetites.  Finally, ending it at 8PM allows everyone to get home in time to up little ones to bed or watch the latest offering of Survivors or Who Wants to be a Millionaire, or whatever other new program has caught our fancy by then.

You have to admit, having a chance to eat a lot of ice cream and socialize with your neighbors has to be more fun than another evening watching the tube!

Mark you calendar!!
