Spring ONK Cleanup April 1st

ONK will hold its spring neighborhood cleanup Saturday, April 1st from 8:30 AM - noon. The City of Knoxville will place dumpsters at several sites in our neighborhood and haul away our unwanted items and street trash. Old North volunteers will remove litter and debris from streets and alleys.

Please be respectful of the dumpsters. The dumpsters should not be filled over the top; they should not be used for construction materials or hazardous waste. Failure to comply with city rules will mean that ONK will be not be able to receive free dumpsters in the future. Volunteers should meet at 124 E. Scott at 8:30 AM. Saturday April 1st. ONK will have gloves and bags for the effort.  ONK will provide volunteers with lunch immediately after the project. Contact at 524-8515 if you can help out.

First Creek Cleanup April 22nd

This spring’s 1st Creek Cleanup will be Saturday April 22nd from 8:30 AM - noon. Meet at the corner of Hoitt and Luttrell. This cleanup will involve fishing things out of the creek, cleaning up along the creek banks, and picking up trash along the 1st Creek Greenway path. ONK (Old North Knoxville) in conjunction with the Adopt-A-Stream and Americorp programs will provide gloves, waders, bags, and other materials needed to help improve one of the natural historic treasures of our neighborhood. KUB will be providing us with bottled water through their H20 to Go program.

There will be dumpsters to put the trash in and a wheelbarrow or two to help move the collected discarded treasures. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks. If you’re worried about getting wet, you can volunteer to pick up trash and small items on the shoreline and park areas. ONK will provide lunch after the cleanup.

Helpers of all ages and abilities are needed. Call Beth Booker at 524-8515 or e-mail
if you have questions about this year’s cleanup. The 1st Creek Greenway is an asset to ONK giving us valuable greenspace in our urban neighborhood. Come on down and get acquainted with the greenway & your neighbors.
