| Old North Knoxville has
developed a traffic calming plan. We are awaiting city approval before moving
forward with it. The plan was developed with the help of the city in order to
make ONK a safer place to live for residents and their families.

Old North Knoxville has a proposed traffic calming plan. The plan was developed in 2003 -
2004 through several public meetings and in conjunction with the City of Knoxville Traffic Engineering Department. An outside representative facilitated the meetings and coordinated the information from the neighborhood residents and city departments such as the police, fire, and emergency services people. None of these departments had any objections to the devices proposed, nor did any of the residents participating.
The plan, developed by the traffic engineering department, was based upon the meetings and from examining the streets in ONK, the traffic flow, and with an eye to using a minimum number of devices to create the maximum effect of reducing both speeding and cut through traffic.
ONK is awaiting go ahead permission from the city to release the ballots. The
East Tennessee Community Design Center is handling the ballots, from mailing them, to tabulating the results. Nobody in Old North Knoxville will know how you voted.
