Old North Goes Hollywood

Saturday March 9th saw a bunch of your Old North Knoxville neighbors once again manning the telephones at the PBS telethon. As is becoming routine, this crew raised a lot of money for PBS. This year we raised over $19,000. Thanks to Greg and Rena Webb, Dani Owenby, Sarah Neesen, Pete Creel, Donna Brechko, Marvin Payne, Bob Lavoie, Tomica Miller and Ernie Roberts for their help and dedication and , of course, Andy Anderson who once again took the lead in getting it all set up for us. If you were watching the telethon while Old North was on and noticed the picture seemed to be shaking and moving about, it was probably because our own Jordan Webb, the son of Greg and Rena was doing some of the camera work during the telethon. Have you found a new calling, Jordan? This year I was unable to help out during the telethon due to illness and wouldn't you know, the food was provided this year by the BelAir Grill. I love the BelAir Grill. Sounds a lot better than Krystal. I understand they had both hamburgers and chicken and they were both great. Did you know that Old North Knoxville has been participating in the PBS telethon here in Knoxville since 1981? That was the year they began them, so Old North Knoxville can be very proud to have been a part of this great activity since the very beginning. Everyone agreed they had a great time and want to do it again next year, so watch this space for news of the next opportunity to help when Old North Knoxville once again "works the phones" for PBS.
