At a recent meeting of the Empowerment Zone, ZAC (Zone Area Committee) members were elected. Twelve members from Old North Knox were present at the March 1st gathering at Fulton High School. Old North Knox was the largest of four groups present at the meeting. These groups, along with other members, represent the north ZAC. Of the twelve Old North Knox members, four people volunteered to be on the ZAC. They were Tom Brechko, Lyn Fuson, Susan Hamilton, and Greg Webb. Of those four, Tom Brechko, a member of the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and Susan Hamilton, a horticulture professor at The University of Tennessee, were selected. All four candidates should be commended for offerings their time and talents in order to make Old North Knox a better place to live. The Zone Area Committee could be an important forum of getting needed projects undertaken to further the economic, social, and cultural goals of Old North Knox. The fact that there were twelve people from Old North Knox at the meeting and that one-third of them was willing to give of themselves to help us all speaks well of the community spirit in our neighborhood.
