Like wildfire, the news spread via email among Knoxville's motorcycling
community: on Wednesday, March 17, Speed
Channel's Greg White, host of "Two-Wheeled
Tuesday," was stopping at the Time
Warp Tea Room in Old North Knoxville. Knoxville was scheduled as one of the first stops
for Greg and his entourage as they ride 50 cc Zuma scooters from North Carolina to the
west coast, as part of a Speed Channel publicity
stunt.
Greg was a gracious and affable sort of guy, energetically signing
autographs and working the room for over two hours. It was almost easy to
forget that he had traveled 330 miles that day on the tiny scooter that tops out
at "about 52 or 53 in a draft down a hill with a tailwind," according
to him –
not an easy task.

well-wishers for Greg White's fanatical cross-country tour (right). |

Dan Moriarty, owner of the Tea Room, was interviewed by Greg and his camera
crew in a segment that may be aired on national TV April 6. The question is, will national media exposure change Dan? Or will he remain the
same loveable, humble purveyor of caffeinated spirits?

At any rate, watch out when the Honda
Hoot comes to town this June 23-26, for the Time Warp Tea Room will likely
be a newfound hub among the two-wheeled faithful.
