Knox Heritage Preservation Awards

On November 29, 2001, Knox Heritage held its annual membership meeting at Perkins Place, the beautifully restored elementary school building now home to the accounting firm, Pershing Yoakley & Associates. A total of 53 awards were presented, a record high in one year for Knox Heritage.

Old North Knoxville would like to congratulate the following residents who won Residential Restoration Awards from Knox Heritage, Inc. Charles Richmond & Jim Robinson, 229 East Scott Avenue; Greg & Rena Webb, 230 East Oklahoma Avenue; Tomica Miller & David Whaley, 203 West Glenwood Avenue; Charles & Juliette McVay, 1424 Armstrong Avenue; Marvin & Dodie Payne, 131 East Oklahoma Avenue; Betsey Hooper, 1339 Grainger Avenue; Johnny Lane, 222 Leonard Place.

In addition, neighbors Dave Palmer and Chester Kilgore were honored with recognition for their Commitment to Preservation. Also honored was retired Knoxville City Councilwoman Carlene Malone for her commitment to preservation and to neighborhoods while serving on the Knoxville City Council.

Knox Heritage was founded in 1974 and is dedicated to the preservation of architecturally and/or historically significant buildings, open spaces and parks in Knoxville and Knox County.
