Old North Knoxville's Beautification
Committee is pleased to announce its first annual garden tour. On Saturday, June 4th, starting at 10 a.m. ONK residents are invited to join committee members as they tour four area gardens.
Storm Haven - Beth & David Booker's
garden features cottage plantings in shade and sun. The newest area of their garden holds a mix of flowers and vegetables including a green bean teepee hideaway for children.
KokOasis - Kevin Jeske & Andrew Polynak's
urban oasis features a Kokopelli path that whimsically guides visitors past aromatic herbs, colorful flowers, and lush shrubbery. Granny's goldfish pond, a stream, and a secluded hammock area nestled behind Key West flora all contribute to a tour through the tropics.
Julie Little and husband Kendall's
garden has European "flair" with a three-tier fountain in the center, surrounded by three distinct beds of cutting flowers, sedums, and grass edged paving stones. The garden area is enclosed with privacy panels covered in Virginia Creeper and a hand-painted mural of a Tuscan landscape.
The Vanderkleed's garden rambles over four full city lots. Visitors will find stunning shrubbery, herbs, and flowers. The garden plants are accentuated by a charming garden structure & rockwork.
The tour begins at 124 E. Scott Ave. at 10 am. It then proceeds as a group to each garden. A light lunch will be served on the screen porch at
Cathy Shuck & Tim Sparer's home immediately following the tour. The tour is free to ONK residents, however RSVP is required. Please RSVP by June 2nd to Beth Booker at 524-8515 or
