Winners Announced for the 6th Annual Old North Knoxville Holiday Decorating Contest

December 8, 2004

This year presented a mighty challenge to the judges of Old North Knoxville's Holiday Decorating Contest, who said that there were many outstanding choices.  The judges, Rob Frost (City Councilman), Ann Bennett (MPC Historic Zoning Commission Staff), and Reed Massengill (Mechanicsville Historic District) were very impressed with all the decorations and involvement of the entire neighborhood in ONK's tour activities.

There are not 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, but just three particularly outstanding houses in each category.

And the winners are:

Modern/lighted category

  • 509 East Scott: Larry & Janey Lauver
  • 215 East Oklahoma: Sean Bolen
  • 1401 Grainger Avenue: David Marshall, Eddie Ratcliff, and Brad Phillips

Traditional category

  • 510 East Scott: Tom & Donna Brechko
  • 1408 Grainger Avenue: Ruth Bowling
  • 1001 Thompson Place: Mike Havasy & Tom Branum

Old North Decorating Contest coordinators will be contacting the decorators, if they haven't already, in order to present $25 Kroger Gift Certificates.

This website will be posting pictures of the winners' houses shortly.  Congratulations, and thanks to all for making Old North look so merry and bright!
