The five homes on this Tour of Homes are representative of various styles which were so typical at the end of the 1800s and the early 1900s: large rambling farmhouses, the Victorian-styled farmhouses and the combination of styles, as well. You will notice beautiful architectural features and elements in all of these homes, as high ceilings, moldings, big windows, screened and open porches, built-in cabinets and shelves and an abundant use of various woods for trim, moldings and floors... artistry and details which cannot be replicated in today's building market.

The College Hill Historic District has maintained its 19th and 20th century architectural character to a great degree, and its quiet tree-lined streets and fine homes has made it one of the more desirable sections of the city. Most of these homes, whether the larger Victorian, Queen Anne and Romanesque homes, or the more modest Bungalow and Craftsman styles, have built-in shelves and cabinets, coffered ceilings of oak or ash or pine, natural wood moldings and frames and beautiful hardwood floors.

The Historic College Hill Neighborhood Association was established in 1992 and was revitalized in 1999. Its main purposes are to preserve the historic elements of the district and to offer support to the Historic Zoning Commission in its preservation endeavors.
